Our team has been working hard over the past few months to create events that cater to the entire school of Urban and Regional Planning. We are excited to present the official TMAPS schedule of events for the 2023/2024 school year. We will be hosting exciting activities and events every month of the school year! Toronto Island Retreat

Are you looking to make some new friends in the program? Attend the annual Toronto Island Retreat on Friday, September 8. There will be a variety of food, games, and activities that promote team bonding skills and opportunities to mingle with people of all years within the program!

Annual Bike Tour

Every year, TMAPS hosts a bike tour around the city of Toronto. This year, we ride alongside Chris Drew, a TMU urban planning alumni who is passionate about transportation planning. This opportunity allows current urban planning students to meet new people in the program while being physically active around the city that they study in. Current planning professionals will be present discussing current and recent projects associated with Toronto from different planning firms + professional establishments.

Social Media Takeover – Research Field Trip Students (VIRTUAL)

 Ever wonder what it is like to be travelling the world with your peers in your third/fourth year? One of the most commonly asked questions when students enter the Urban and Regional Planning Program is how the Research Field Trip classes work. During this week long virtual event, participating students in the Research Field Trip classes will share their experiences and answer burning questions from different destinations each day using our Instagram platform.

Merchandise Design Competition (VIRTUAL)

TMAPS is well aware that our program is made up of many creative and design oriented individuals. Due to this, we will be hosting our annual merchandise design competition. Participants have the opportunity to design an article of clothing that has a chance of being featured in our 2023/2024 merchandise collection. Voting and winner selection of this competition will be done through a separate form.

Town Planning Day Scavenger Hunt

To honour an international day that celebrates and recognizes urban planning, TMAPS will be hosting an urban planning themed scavenger hunt. Working in teams, participants will compete to find items in Toronto for a chance to win an amazing prize.

Urban Planning BIPOC Panel

Hosted by our Vice President of Ethics, Diversity, and Inclusion, our Urban Planning BIPOC Panel highlights the importance of planning for BIPOC communities. This event will also feature panelists that have expertise in working in the urban planning field as a person apart of the BIPOC community. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and network from real world professionals in the urban planning profession.

TMU/Waterloo Conference

Each year, both accredited urban planning undergraduate students gather for a conference. TMU and Waterloo urban planning students collaborate in a professional environment to network, meet professionals, complete activities, and more. This is the largest event at the TMU urban planning undergraduate level, so it certainly is not one to be missed!
